Juncker rules out second term to be tough on Brexit

Jean-Claude Juncker has strengthened his hand in the Brexit talks by ruling out a second term as president of the European Commission.

EU sources said that this would allow Mr Juncker to be a more independent and powerful president because he would not be beholden to a popular vote. He can afford to be tough on Britain in Brexit negotiations and has said that he wanted the “right deal” for the EU.
